He'd wandered around, tugging his coat tighter to him, feeling worse by the second. It's not that he doesn't trust David, it's that there's this little voice inside his head that says that they're from different points in their relationship and Patrick feels secure in the David from back home. He's secure with this one too, but there's a whole part of his life he missed.
Then again, he's a hypocrite to think that David would do anything. Patrick's the one who hid a fiancé, because he wanted to move on.
When he's done wandering, he stops in at a bakery and gets a box of cinnamon rolls, heading back to their apartment. He feels a little like he's walking on eggshells, but he approaches cautiously and slides his key in like nothing's the matter, even though he knows that everything kind of is right now, especially since they left it the way they did.
Stepping inside, he searches for signs of life. "David? You home?"
